Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This page is dedicated to our youngest granddaughter Patsy, who tragically died of Meningococcal Septicaemia aged 2years 7 months December 16th 2013. Visit the page of Patsy's beloved daddy Michael Rewcastle to read the full heartbreaking story.  Losing Patsy has changed our family's lives forever. She was so beautiful, so happy and as bright as a button. She was a force to be reckoned with, and she lit up her mam, dad and brother Michael's lives. She was so full of life, so tall and strong. We love and miss her so much it physically hurts.

This page is also dedicated to the memory of Kevin McLoughlin, who tragically died 24th July 2014 after being knocked down and killed whilst walking home. Kevin born 31.07.68 was a lovely lad. He was quiet and gentle and loved by anyone who knew him .Kevin was a down to earth,  non-judgemental man who liked nothing better than to be with his friends having a pint, listening to the craic, not offering his opinion until it mattered. He was well read and hard working, but he could play hard too!! He loved his mam Anne, his sister Helen, brother in law Russell and his two nieces Faye and Zara, and his death has left them all heartbroken. They along with his many, many friends will love him and miss him forever.

I know Kevin will look after our little Patsy wherever they both are xxx

Kevin's mam Anne requested donations to a charity instead of flowers, She chose Meningitis Research because of the link to our Patsy. Our families have been connected for over 30 years and we have supported each other over those years. The donations from family, friends, colleagues and the Gateshead Fire Service raised £723.63, and we can only thank everyone so much for their kindness.

We read and hear of tragic events but no one can understand the pain, despair and deep rooted sadness that you feel when you lose a child or a grandchild.

You protect your children from every day dangers all of their lives; but this disease can be so virulent, striking so rapidly that it is not easy to know what they have until it is too late. Meningitis is a killer and a maiming disease. The after effects of this disease on families is life changing.

As grandparents we have lost the baby of our six grandchildren. She was loved and adored by us all but when we lost our little girl; we as grandparents  have had to watch the suffering and grief of her beloved mam Elexis, dad Michael our son, as well as seeing the hurt on the face of her adored big brother Michael, who at ten years old is missing his little sister so much. He teased her all the time but she loved it and could give as good as she got!! Everyone was hers!! 'My mammy, my daddy, my Michael!' She was at the age when you could have a conversation, role play and watch as her vibrant little personality came into being. We have memories but not enough. We as a family should not be in this position. As parents and grandparents we are unable for the first time in our lives 'to make things better' for our children and grandchildren, but can only be there when they need us. Without Patsy we have all lost the future we looked forward to; because our children are our future.

Patsy was a much loved, precious baby girl and we miss and will love her 'to the moon and back' forever. Her little star will hopefully  shine down on us all; bringing some light once again into our long dark days without her. Love you our precious  little 'Angel of the North' as your daddy would say.

Your ever loving Mama and Papa xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
