Firstly thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My friends, family and I will all I'm sure all be getting involved with various fund raising activities and opportunities to raise money for this worthy cause. All donations will go to Leeds Mind to support teenagers and families alike who are suffering from mental illness. This I hope will go a little way towards saving lives and offering support during this stressful and lonely time.

On the 19th of March 2017 my 17 year old daughter Mia took her own life after battling with anxiety, depression and self-harm issues for many many years.

The years leading up to this event were also truly awful and lonely for both Mia and her family with knock on effects and devastating consequences for us all. No real help was offered, no safety net was there to catch us, no clear path was shown to us so we knew where or who to turn to. What help was finally offered was neither enough or the correct treatment. Mia for the last year and half spent her time sectioned in adolescent mental health units across the country, this did not help her and and perhaps with earlier intervention the outcome could have been very different. 

Adolescent mental health in particular requires so much more awareness, funding and change to the system to catch these children young before they fall. I hope with the funds I and many others raise that this will eventually start to build a support network and prevent many others from suffering the pain her family and friends are now going through.
