Story

In 2013 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. After a very short battle with the symptoms I was admitted to hospital.

I was there for 6 weeks, underwent two bouts of major surgery and left missing a colon but gaining an ileostomy, meaning I now have a bag similar to a colostomy for the rest of my life.

Some people live with the severe, debilitating and often life changing symptoms on a daily basis with little to no quality of life.

Someone is diagnosed with IBD every 30 minutes in the UK, and the peak age range for diagnosis is 15-30 year olds.

I have always spoken about doing something for charity and now is the time. As part of my university Final Major Project I will be running (Yes Really) the Battersea Park 10K to raise money for The Crohn's MAP Vaccine.

The Crohn's MAP Vaccine enters stage 2 of human trials in March 2018, and has the potential to have lasting remission from Crohn's disease.

You can read more about the Crohn's MAP Vaccine here: http://crohnsmapvaccine.com/

You can read more about Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis here: https://www.crohnsandcolitis.org.uk/

I have set an initial target of £1500, but at the end of the day any all donations no matter how big or small could help change someones life for the better.

Peace
