Story

Harry Robert Flory 14.05.1997 12.02.2012

On the 12th February 2012 our beautiful boy Harry Robert Flory died to be FOREVER FREE. Harry dying has left our family heart broken, we all miss him immensely and are still trying to come to terms that he is no longer here, something that we feel will take a life time! Keeping his memory alive means so very much to us.

Harry was funny, reliable, honest, sociable, and so very kind. He told it how it was, so strong and true of heart. Always able to turn a negative into a positive. Honest as the days are long. The boy with the golden heart ….always happy….. Always smiling.

From an early age Harry lived life at 100mph, had a lust for life, Harry loved life! There was never a dull or quiet moment with Harry around. He made the most of every situation and made every second count.

Even when Harry was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 11, he still kept his amazing sense of humor, oozed positivity and showed a maturity beyond his tender years. Never once complaining, or wanting anybody’s sympathy, that just wasn’t our Harry.
Even in his darkest hours, when he was so desperately ill he lifted us, protected us, guided us and carried us. He made us smile and laugh, and filled us with so much joy. We are so very proud to call him our son and brother, but we miss him desperately.
So when faced with his own mortality he showed us all how to be brave, he truly was and will always be our brave hero.
The bravest of the brave…. Beyond inspirational……

A bit about Rosie and her fundraising in memory of her beloved bro.....

In 2009 when Rosie was 9 her brother Harry was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour (aged 11), from that day Rosie’s life changed. Rosie took it upon herself to care for her brother, giving up all of her free time to make sure her brother was properly cared for. It was humbling to watch her selfless devotion, helping him with everyday things we take for granted or just being there to watch the TV with him. In 2011 we were told the devastating news that Harry’s cancer was terminal. So Rosie then became Harry’s own little “Florence Nightingale”, making sure his last few months of his life were happy, comfortable and showed maturity beyond her tender years.
On 12th Feb 2012 Harry sadly died, and again Rosie has shown such inspirational strength putting her own visible grief aside and has begun fund raising. Even in her brothers death she continues to care for his precious memory. Here are just a few of her efforts.
In June 2012 (4 month's after Harry died) she organised a team of 28 runners to take part in the race for life, she named the team “Harry’s tigers” designed the t-shirts and raised as a team £3,648.
In Dec 2012 she dressed up in a tiger onesie and stood for 8hours outside Lidl’s in Boscombe and raised £474.40 for the Clic Sargent big bucket collection.
In feb 2013 to mark her beloved Harry’s 1ST “Angelversary” she funded (out of her Christmas money), designed and sold “Harry Flory wristbands” at school, on-line and at events. So far she has raised a massive £1000 to go to paediatric brain tumour research in the uk.
In Dec 2013 she cycled 32 miles in her Tiger Onesie and raised £1101.25 for Poole and district children's cancer fund.
In 2014 she has raised over £2000 selling cupcakes, cards, wristbands and Angel baubles.
So far in total she has raised over £12,000.00

We are so very proud of this exceptional, very special young lady. She has given so much and continues to do so. Rosie has been inspiring, motivating so many people to do positive things.
