Event: The Twilight Walk - Chester, on 1 October 2017
Participants: Christine
#WalkWithUs - Walk to unite & make a lasting difference , walk to share experiences with those who understand, walk to celebrate the lives of loved ones.

Story

Together with Christine I will be completing the Chester Twilight walk dressed in an Elephant costume. Having completed this walk on a number of occasions. I decided to try something different this year.

In aid of the Brian Tumour Charity one of the most neglected Charities.

Just consider the following:

  • Only 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to brain tumours.
  • 16,000 people each year are diagnosed with a brain tumour.
  • 40% of all cancers eventually spread to the brain.
  • Brain cancer deaths are rising, unlike most other cancers.
  • Patient personality changes that can occur as a result of a brain tumour cause massive family disruption.

On a personal note:

  • Mike's late wife, Lesley, was diagnosed with breast cancer which spread to her brain.
  • Christine's late husband, Keith, was taken away from her by a brain tumour.

Tragic as these events were, we aren't doing the walk in Lesley's or Keith's memory. We are raising money for all the future undiagnosed cases, in the hope that the outcome will be better.

After all that could be any of us.
