Story
On the 26th of April, our beautiful daughter Madeline entered the world — but her arrival was far from ordinary. What should have been one of the happiest days of our lives turned into a terrifying fight for her survival.
Shortly after birth, Madeline suffered a serious complication that left her critically ill. She was airlifted to Great Ormond Street Hospital, where doctors prepared to place her on a heart and lung bypass. By what felt like a miracle, the incredible medical team at Great Ormond Street were able to stabilise her condition without needing the bypass.
Before that, the wonderful staff at Swansea NICU Ward worked tirelessly to keep Madeline strong enough to make the journey to London. Both hospitals showed extraordinary care, skill, and compassion — not only for Madeline but for us as a family during the most difficult time of our lives.
Now, a year later, as we celebrate Madeline’s first birthday, we want to give back to the two hospitals that quite literally saved her life.
To raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Swansea NICU Ward, we’ll be holding two special fundraising events:
🎈 A Family Fun Day at Betws Rugby Club on Saturday, 25th April, bringing our community together to celebrate Madeline’s journey and support these amazing hospitals.
🏔️ The Three Peaks Challenge, 15th May — a physical and personal challenge to honour the strength and resilience Madeline has shown since the day she was born.
All money raised will be shared between Great Ormond Street Hospital and Swansea NICU Ward, helping other families who may find themselves in similar situations.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help us say thank you for the gift of our daughter’s life and for the incredible people who made it possible.
From the bottom of our hearts,
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support.
