Making Memories for Alzheimer's: 4 friends and 4 bikes take on the "Tour de Friends" Mizen to Malin Cycle 2016.
4 friends, 4 bikes, 400 miles, 4 days, one length of Ireland, during August 2016 equates to the "Tour de Friends", 4 sore saddles and hope for Dementia suffers.
Hi! We are four friends from Belfast, Chris, Chris B, Simon, and John who all have someone in our lives that has been affected by or suffers from Dementia. We want to give them hope. We all have bikes and a determined attitude to raise awareness for Alzheimer's so our goal is to cycle the length of Ireland together, raising much needed funds for Alzheimer's and making memories along the way for those who no longer have their own. The "Tour de Friends" Mizen to Malin head cycle will be tough, 400 miles over 4 days from 6th to 9th August 2016 but with your help we can achieve it!
Our aim is to raise over £5000 for the Alzheimer’s Society to help support people in Northern Ireland to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow.
We welcome and are grateful for your donation no matter the size, here is what your donation can do:
- £5 could pay for one person to attend a half hour session at a monthly Dementia Café, providing information and support for people with dementia and their carers.
- £20 could pay for 100 copies of 'Understanding and Respecting the Person with Dementia' - one of the Society's most requested factsheets.
- £50 could fund one of our National Dementia Helpline Advisors for an hour, as they offer practical advice and emotional support to people living with dementia, their carers, family and friends.
- £120 could pay to run Talking Point for one day - the Society's 24/7 online community for all people affected by dementia.
