Story

Wednesday 20 June was just like any normal Wednesday morning. Matthew got ready for college: he had a shower, listened to his music, let everyone know that he was planning to get a haircut, go play golf with friends, come home for Mum’s pasta and then football. It was a lovely day, very hot and very sunny, and Matthew was, as always, happy, loving and cheeky!

After saying goodbye, Mum headed off to the allotment on her bicycle and as Matthew passed her in the car, watching Mum struggling up the hill, he beeped the horn, waved and smiled!

Matt was really enjoying life. He had great friends, loved college and working at McDonald’s, and was beginning his fitness regime in preparation for joining the Army next year.

Sadly, at around 10:00, Matthew was involved in a car crash on the North Walsham Road. Within 10 minutes the East Anglian Air Ambulance, Paramedics, Police and Fire Brigade were at the scene to try and help him but unfortunately this was not possible.

Although Matt died, it gives us great comfort to know how quickly the emergency services arrived and that if there had been anything they could do to try and save him, Matthew would have been given the best treatment.

Matthew was at the end of his Public Services Uniformed course at Norwich City Clollege and in February he was planning to join the Army, we know that he would have wanted to support Help for Heroes.

So please give as much as you can in memory of Matthew to this wonderful organisation!

Thank you!
