Fundraising for Mid & South Essex Hospitals Charity
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Mark sadly passed away November 2016. He was at home with me & our son, where he wanted to be. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to be at home. Circumstances don't always allow it. They are in hospital, behind a curtain, with no privacy & no facilities where family members can stay with them 24/7. I want to change this.
I've set up a Tribute Fund in Mark's name & together with Southend Hospital Fund Raising Dept & Palliative Care, we are working to create an End of Life care room. We have been given a side room on Windsor Ward & we want to transform it into a comfortable environment in which family members can spend the day & in the evening, one member can spend the night.
We intend to install a collapsible, fold away bed, comfy chairs, wall art, drinks station & general "home from home" comforts, giving families the opportunity to spend their time wisely, with their loved one & not worry about leaving them on their own, or worse, not being able to get back to them in time.
End of Life is so important to all involved. It's a time where everyone should be together, saying what needs to be said. To have missed out on this time is a hard burden to live with, that nobody should have to face. This room is going to give people the opportunity to be where they should be, at a time when they are needed the most.
Help us raise money for this room. The whole point of this Tribute Fund is so that the whole community can get involved in raising money for this much needed facility. Anyone can organise an event & use this link, so that all the money raised can go to towards the room. This is my way of dealing with my loss of Mark, by giving something back to an institution who looked after him, when he needed it the most. Turning a distressing time into something positive, creating something we will all use at some point in our lives. I can't think of a better legacy to give to such a courageous man, who was very loved & well respected amongst his friend & family.
