Story
We're back running in 2023 for Claire House Children's Hospice in memory of Fraser McKie - and this time, we're heading stateside for the final challenge in the running career I never thought I'd have...
Last year, Scott (my brother in law) and I ran four half marathons across the UK with some of my friends, and this year we've signed up to run the New York Marathon in November 2023. We've raised over £15,000 in the last two years as a family, and we're pushing ourselves this year to continue to make a difference.
Fraser was 1 in 100 million - he had MCAHS1, a genetic metabolic condition which fewer than 100 people have been diagnosed with. The condition is life limiting and sadly he passed away in June 2021, aged 19 months.
Fraser had lots of challenges in his short life, spending a lot of time in hospital but Claire House Children's Hospice was there to support Fraser and family, allowing the opportunity to make special memories together. Fraser loved it there, particularly splashing about in the hydrotherapy pool.
Ellie (my wife) and I were able to spend precious time saying goodbye to our little boy at Claire House's Butterfly Suite and we've continued to receive support from Claire House whilst we adjust to life without him. Please help us raise funds for this wonderful charity, so that they can continue to provide their vital services to some very special children and their families.
