Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I created this page in memory of my Dad, Wayne, who sadly and very unexpectedly passed away on 21st March 2017.

For a time my Dad worked as a volunteer for Guideposts SW Herts from 2011. Guideposts is a charity that assist vulnerable people with a wide range of social and mental health issues. He volunteered in the befriending scheme- spending time with some of the clients, and even used his skills to do electrical and maintenance work in Henry Smith House, the centre in Watford. Dad wrote in his application:

“I am self-employed and work in the building trade and although I have no experience of volunteer work, I would like to help out in my community”

I am getting married in October, and as my Dad cannot be there, I would like guests to donate to Guideposts instead of buying wedding gifts as a way of celebrating him, the work he did for them, and to help the people my Dad may have helped and others like them. Becase of this, I would like the money to go directly to the SW Herts Guideposts branch if possible.

Please see below for information on Guideposts and how your donations could help vulnerable people in need:

Guideposts is a social care and mental health charity that focus on the needs of vulnerable who face numerous complex challenges: from autism, learning disability and mental health issues – to physical disability and age-related conditions, such as dementia, sensory impairment or mobility problems. Guideposts' Care & Support services, Information Advice & Guidance teams and Independent Living Support projects all exist to connect people and their carers with opportunities wherever they live. Their rainbow-coloured logo represents the multi-skilled "safety net of support" , which saves vulnerable people and their loved ones from falling through the gaps in state provision – into isolation and unhappiness.
