As many of you know I had a fantastic start to 2016, I'd married my soulmate, bought a new flat and was in my dream job for a fantastic company with good prospects a head of me .
I don't want to dwell on the bad stuff too much but sadly it's a reality , after a fall ( stone cold sober by the way ! Only me) at the end of my wedding I had to go to hospital , prior to the fall I had not been 100% for over a year , I felt run down , exhausted and almost unable to function every so often and was told by my GP firstly I had a virus, then it could be shingles, then I had diabetes ( which I do ) and then that I had a liver condition I adapted my lifestyle accordingly and became tee-total and changed my diet and learned to object myself with insulin but I Still didn't feel right some days , we went back to the GP and they tested my blood for all manner of things but the results were all normal , with the excitement of the wedding I put my tired days down to hormones , and just overdoing it after my fall Steven insisted I go to the hospital , after seeing the doctor I was sent home with concussion feeling smug as I had told Steven I was fine , unfortunately I wasn't a week later after having a very stupid day at work I agreed with Steven to go back to A&E that was 10 weeks ago , my MRI came back showing brain lesions , my brain was also very swollen and temporarily damaged due to the fall , a lumbar puncture and lots of tests later I was told it is highly likely I have multiple sclerosis but that I also had some strange neurological issues they could not work out , I then had 3 hemiplegic migraines in quite a small time period and my left side was left paralysed , Id gone from the happiest time of my life to the worse and still no one could tell me what was wrong I would get sold " it's not my area of expertise or I can't comment , thankfully I finally got an assessment in neuro rehab , in 2 hours they explained what the hospital couldn't in 8 weeks , the specialist explained that as well as this episode of multiple sclerosis I had Functional nerve disorders , basically due to the dead patch and nerve death in my brain , my nerve signals where misfiring or going the wrong way and causing my body havoc as they were giving the wrong messages ! Finally I had an answer ! It's going to be a challenging journey but I'm determined to get back as much of the old Tasha as I can ,, there simply is not enough research or funding in to neurological research or issues , I am not well enough to run a marathon , or even a sponsored walk and as I will be in hospital for up to another 4 months I'm limited to what I can do so I will try and take you all on my journey with me by doing a daily FB blog or update , I will try to make it funny a " comedy of (medical) errors " a story of how a bump to the head and a neurological disorder can really get on your nerves ( in the literal sense) I know times are hard but I want to give something back so please help me in raising money for this worthy cause , anything you can spare would be brilliant ! I won't pester people you will just see my link on my update !
Thanks !
Tasha
