In the early hours of 17 December last year, my beautiful Aunty Carol passed away after her brave fight against cancer.

I remember vividly the moment she told me it was cancer, I was of course devastated and my eyes filled with tears, but she insisted there was to be no crying.  From that day onwards she did everything asked of her to battle her illness.  Her resolve was unwavering and she focussed on getting rid of the little "B**ger" as she called it.  She handled the suffering and pain caused by her illness and treatment with the utmost courage and grace.

We all loved her hugely.  My three year old son Joe and her had become great friends.  On his last visit to see her, he scribbled a message on one of her Christmas cards.  When we asked him what the squiggles said he replied; "To Aunty Carol, I love you more than every place I know in the whole wide world"... It raised a smile from her even then.

Even in these dark hours, we realised that it was a great blessing that her final weeks were being spent under the wonderful care of the staff at Warwick Myton Hospice.  Watching their professionalism, tireless kindness and patience left us determined to do something to raise money for this wonderful place and to honour the memory of our wonderful Aunty Carol.  A.K.A Mummy McCarron.

I told her then I was running the Kenilworth half Marathon and with that promise made... I had better get on and do it! : - )

I have committed to running 3 races in total; the 10K Two Castles Run on 11 June, the 10K Coventry Northbrook Run on 11 July and culminating in the Kenilworth Half Marathon on 10 September (what have I done?!?!)

As a very out of shape Mum I am not really sure how I am going to manage this and I am rather scared, but, I am determined somehow to make Aunty Carol proud of me and hopefully raise some much needed funds to support Myton and help them continue to provide their amazing care in the future.
