Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My brother Neil was simply the best, a truly unique guy. I looked up to him even though I was the oldest! I have many memories to treasure and my vision of him is always the same...him darting around being constantly busy at his gym in Surrey which he established in 2012.
A healthy and active 33 year old doesn't expect to be diagnosed with cancer and there are several moments I'll never forget such as his phone call that Friday night in December when he told me his terrible news.
I also will never forget his bravery throughout the following 11 months, I didn't hear him feel sorry for himself or get angry about his condition...maybe he was shielding me from his feelings but a brave thing either way.
His wedding to Zia in Kefalonia in September was amazing, we all had a fantastic time and lots of fun. I found out later on how much pain he was in but it didn't stop him jumping in the pool with my daughter Rubie who loved her uncle to bits.
A few weeks after the wedding, Neil was told that his secondary cancer was untreatable and was admitted into a hospice 10 days later. The hospice staff could not have done any more for Neil, Zia or our families...we were cared for, comforted, made to feel at home. I never realised the tru value of these amzing places until I experienced one myself.
It is an honour to do something to help other families in the same situation by fundraising in Neil's memory.
So...dig deep in your pockets...every £1 helps to keep Willowbrook open...they receive no government funding so please give as much as you can...I know times are hard but 30% of us are likely to need these hospices some day x x x
