Work with us to help save lives and support the people of Yemen

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Twenty months of war have brought Yemen, already one of the poorest countries in the world, to breaking point. People have lost their jobs and the economy has almost collapsed. Hospitals, schools and farms have been destroyed. Despite efforts to end the conflict, lives are being lost now and aid is needed urgently. In the midst of conflict, DEC member agencies are reaching millions of people with lifesaving aid across the country but much more needs to be done. Our experienced teams of Yemeni and international aid workers, partner with local organisations across all of the country’s provinces. They face daily challenges to reach those in most need but are already providing lifesaving aid around the clock, Including providing treatment for malnutrition and running mobile health teams and hospitals but they need funds to reach more children.

I am performing various Storytelling events publicaly and in schools to raise money for the tragic and overlooked current crisis in Yemen. Whilst watching a heart breaking appeal for the children of Yemen and feeling helpless to do anything I suddenly had an idea!  One of the stories in my storytelling repertoire is an epic tale set in Yemen many thousands of years ago , when this land was a peaceful place.  It is one of the lesser known , yet fun and action packed tales from '1001 Arabian Nights Tales' about three lazy, spoiled Princes, sent out alone into the world on a quest to find 'the greatest wonder of the world' in order to claim the throne. The boys undergo a journey from boyhood to manhood, and each returns home, only to realise that rather than fighting and wanting to win and be the best, working together  we are stronger. The moral of the story is 'Together we're stronger", is the same as the logo for 'Disasters Emergency Committee'.

I couldn't over look this synchronicity and decided I would perform stories in public and in schools in aid of this worthy cause. Every penny, cent and dime will go to DEC. Thank you so much for your support and contribution....a little goes a long long way.
