Story
The mission
Four years ago the Rotary Club of Loddon Vale cycled 970 miles from Land’s End to John‘O Groats and it rained all the way for charity.
Two years ago they cycled 425 miles down the length of Ireland and the sun shone all the way.
This year we they are cycling 470 miles from Reading to Hamburg and their aim is to raise another £10,000 to be shared across two worthy charities. (Launchpad & Camfed)
This year cyclists are John Hammond and Dr Jeremy Spurr are joined by Launchpad's own Paul Banks. Paul is a keen cyclist and cycles to Launchpad from Bracknell every day, so is really looking forward to raising funds doing this Cyclethon.
Paul will cycle 425 miles from Sonning, Reading, departing at 6am cycling through London to Harwich in Essex, (ferry to Hook of Holland), through Holland before finally arriving in Hamburg, Germany on the 20th May.
100% of the monies Paul raises on this page will go directly to support Launchpad.
Launchpad Reading – Reading’s Homeless Support Charity
We’ve all made poor decisions, had bad luck or made mistakes.
Most of the time we’re
able to shrug them off and get on with life.
But it’s not always easy to
get back on a stable path. That’s why Launchpad exists: to help vulnerable and
disadvantaged people turn things around.
Providing positive support:
We believe everyone deserves a second chance. That includes our clients, who need
positive support to get a roof over their head, skills to live independently
and confidence to get into employment.
Housing with support
Clean, safe housing is the firm foundation on which all our other services are built.
Education, training and employment
Giving people the skills they need to move on in life and support themselves.
Alcohol and substance misuse support
Helping break the cycle of alcohol and substance abuse.
Allotment and healthy living
Our allotment doesn’t look or feel like typical support but really helps clients to grow food and grow in confidence.
Floating Support
Offering free advice, developing skills and confidence to those that are over 16 and at risk of homelessness.
