Story
I probably should know better by now, however never let it be said I'm not easily led!
So, with a few of us setting off into the sunset of Southern Israel for what will end up being yet another lesson of why you should never agree to anything whilst under the influence, we have decided to enter this years ITU Triathlon Race to help raise money for the Lincoln David Abraham Paediatric Educational Institute at the Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Jerusalem.
For those of your that may not know, Lincoln Abraham was a very good pal of mine who tragically lost his life during the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004. Ever since we have raised money in his memory for various children's charities around the Globe. This year we are supporting a new paediatric unit which ensures that every child (regardless of race or religion) will be able to continue their education so that they don’t fall behind with their classmates during what may be a long rehabilitation process.
I've actually visited the unit, and its an absolute inspiration to see how indomitable the human spirit is under sometimes the most heart breaking of circumstances, and how the escapism that education can provide has helped speed along the rehabilitation process.
Now back to the business in hand. With just over 3 weeks to go before I drag my body through a 1.5 km swim, a 40km bike ride and a 10km run, I hope you find pity/sadistical pleasure in my forthcoming adventure and donate to what I hope you agree is a very worthwhile cause.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
