Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Great North Run 2016 Half Marathon to raise funds for the SHINE charity.
SHINE are a charity who help and support families and children who are affected by Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus and Neural Tube Defects.
My wife's cousin Lesley suggested I run for SHINE in memory of her friends son Joey Paul Wright who was born with anencephaly.
I've set myself a couple of targets for the day;
1. A finish time of <02:00:00 and as a motivator if I don't manage this time I'll put in an extra £35 (and £25 if I do).
2. To beat my fellow HMRC runner Sam Jackson if I don't manage this relatively easy feat I'll put in an extra £35 (and £25 if I do)
Joey's mother Sam has her own JustGiving page on which an amazing amount of donations have been raised and to quote that page;
'At 21 weeks pregnant we were advised our gorgeous baby boy has anencephaly. In short he will not survive outside of the womb, his skull has not fused together meaning he has no brain. We have chosen to to carry on with the pregnancy till his life comes to a natural end. We are hoping he can donor.
My friends are amazing and suggested we start to fund raise in memory of Joey. Shine have a really good support group for people who have been affected by anencephaly. This is the reason we chose shine as our charity.'
