8th May 2014 will sadly be the first anniversary of Sandra’s death and 6th May would have been her 50th birthday. I am sure all of her friends and former colleagues will want to join with me and Sand’s family to remember her on both those days but I particularly wanted to do something that I know she would have been proud of so I’ve decided to do a zip slide across the Tyne on Saturday 10th May. In doing so I want to try to raise more funds for the fantastic Percy Hedley Foundation, the response following Sand’s death was phenomenal and overall with online and offline donations we raised over £1300.

 

You might remember that Sand worked at Percy Hedley Foundation for a while during the mid 2000's. She was inspired by the work of the charity and although her role was that of PA she spent a great deal of time with the young people and adults attending the centre. The students and the amazing work that the staff did there really touched Sand and she always said that once I let her retire she would go back there and become a volunteer, sadly that wasn't to be, but we hope that by setting up this page in Sand's memory she is continuing to play a part in supporting this fantastic organisation.

 

Thank you so much for your donation it means a lot to me and Sand’s family and I'm sure she will be looking down at me on 10th May thinking I’m totally mad but at the same time would be really proud that we are supporting a cause close to her heart once again.
