Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I am running this race partly to see how far I can go before my body tells me to stop being silly.  However I am also doing it to support the charity that my daughter, Isobel, is committed to as both chair of her Birmingham University branch and student representative on the national committee.  Students like Isobel give their time and energy to helping refugees settle in places like Birmingham and I know that money given to STAR will be very well used.

STAR is a small national charity which works in a number of ways.  It campaigns for equal access to education for asylum seekers and refugees, as well as pressuring the government to change the rules on reuniting refugee children in the UK with their families.  STAR Groups also run local volunteering projects and English conversation classes at universities all over the country to welcome and support around 4000 refugees.

I have a long programme of long runs to get through to ensure I will be fit enough to complete this mad endurance ultra marathon and any money you can give will help spur me on.  Thank you your help is really appreciated.

About the charity

STAR is the national network of students building a society where refugees are welcomed. Working together we volunteer and work directly with refugees, campaign for policy change and equal access to university for refugees, and learn about refugees and asylum.
