I'm walking coast to coast from St. Bees to Robin Hoods Bay to raise money in memory of my beautiful wife Diane who was so cruelly taken away from us on Thursday 20th July 2017 after an 8 year battle with cancer, such a cruel and unforgiving disease. Diane and i had planned to carry out this walk next year for charity and I'm going to fulfil this plan that we had hopefully in September this year.

Diane was only 53 and never once complained about her condition and always treated everyone with such a warm and beautiful smile right unto the end.

Di got the opportunity to go to Teesside Hospice of which were at first a bit dubious as we always thought of a hospice as a bit grim and a place to go to die, how wrong we were, Diane was in a very poorly condition when we went in and she came out in June so positive and ready to face the world after the hospice had given her a new lease for life. Unfortunately Di's underlying condition was much worse than first thought and she became very ill again whist at home. She went into James Cook hospital and we were given the grim news that Di did not have long to live so we called our kids home from holidays and various locations throughout the UK. 

Teesside Hospice again stepped in and secured Diane a place there. Diane's condition was so severe we thought she would pass away over the first couple of days she was in there but due the the unbelievable care and treatment Di lived for almost another month of which time we were all able to get together and enjoy our time as a family. Di was given the chance to go home but preferred to stay at the Hospice as she felt so secure and confident in her treatment and surroundings.

I would like to  personally thank the staff of Teesside Hospice, Doctors, nurses, cares, social workers, auxiliaries, cleaners, admit workers, hair dressers, physios, chef's, cleaners and any other volunteers that I may of forgot, I will never forget the care and kindness you gave to Di and all our family x
