Story

Thanks for visiting this page!

3 weeks ... 30 kilometres!!

Caden Beggan’s Memorial Fund has been set up by Yorkhill’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children. The aim of the fund is to raise £40,000 which will allow the hospital to buy another ECMO machine which gave life support to Caden during his battle with meningococcal septicaemia late last year.

Sadly Caden, age 6, lost his battle in November 2012 after fighting so bravely for 4 weeks. I first heard of Caden Beggan when my mum posted on Facebook that her friends little boy was very ill and had been rushed to Yorkhill. Then more of my friends posted similar messages. I realised this was someone extremely special to many of my close family and friends. Even although I never met Caden, I believed from day 1 there would be something positive despite the current sadness. I was right ... just not in the way I thought. Caden has passed away but he has left a legacy of PINK, The Committed Pirate, The Dinosaur Guy, The Artist. His story has touched people all over the world, his family have shared words (via a Facebook page) from the depth of their hearts and now I want to give them my support to show Caden's legacy will be just as special as him.

To show my support I will take part in 3 10k runs over 3 weeks in May 2013! Personally I'll find this is a big challenge - I am not a runner, I have never been much of a gym go-er! However last year I ran 5k and thought 'Well I survived, I might try 10k!' I'm using a training plan created by Jog Scotland and I will work hard enough to complete this challenge and raise LOTS of money!

Thanks for visiting my page! Come back soon and see my progress!
