Story
The Poppy Rocket Challenge
So because this year’s Poppy Rocket Challenge has been
cancelled due to the unmentionable, and we have been terrible at updating the
world, we’ve decided to challenge ourselves.
It’s Poppy’s 3rd Birthday soon and as usual, we
come up with some daft ideas, this being one of them. But if it’s in memory of
our Rocket and could possible raise a few quid, then we’re up for it. So this
Saturday 7th November 2020 just 3 days before Poppy’s birthday her
parents are going to ATTEMPT to run a marathon, Yes 26.2Miles. Attempt is in capitals as neither of us have
ran more than 7 Miles in a training run in Nearly 3 years. Jo even longer. We
have no idea how long it will take us and could easily be up to 6 hours if not
more but we think a day of pain is worth it.
We will be Starting at 10am and will try to finish before it
gets Dark. The Route we are going to do is below and if anyone feels an urge to
throw sweets at us from a safe distance I’m sure it will be greatly
appreciated. We will try to share our GPS data as we make are way along the
route.
Hopefully this will in some part make up for us not doing
the Poppy Challenge this year in Moel Famau as we usually do. But it just means
next year will be even bigger and better again.
As always, we do these things for Alder Hey, in hope to save
even just one family from leaving the hospital with empty arms. If you can
spare it, we know they need it now more than ever <3
