Story

Team Olive is taking part in the ‘RBC Race for the Kids’ on Sunday 15th May 2016. Team Olive consists of:

– Arnold, Clare and Paul
– Oliver, Laura and Simon
– Granny Mo and Granddad Rog
– Edwin, Nicola and Daniel
– Granny Duke

The RBC Race for the Kids is Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity’s annual 5k family fun run in the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. We'll be taking part with thousands of other people to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Why Great Ormond Street Hospital needs our help?
Great Ormond Street Hospital is undergoing a major redevelopment. The demand for their world-class services is increasing faster than the ability to see and treat the children who need their help. Rebuilding and refurbishing outdated buildings will create additional space for patients, enabling them to care for more sick children and keep up with demand.

The Olive Martin Brighter Future Fund
We setup the Olive Martin Brighter Future Fund in 2014 in memory of our daughter Olive who died of a very complex heart condition aged just 6 weeks. Thanks to amazing support from friends and family we've already raised over £26,000.

The fund has already bought a £9,000 TOE heart probe and £10,000 towards ground-breaking heart research. To support the major redevelopments at GOSH, we have allocated the rest of the Fund towards the creation of a new specialist cardiac unit dedicated to tackling heart failure in children. The new 14 bed unit (due to open in 2017) will provide the foundations and infrastructure for world-leading experts to provide first class clinical care to children with heart failure and lead a pioneering programme of research focused on developing new and better devices that can buy children more time while waiting for a life-saving transplant.

Olive’s Fund is enabling GOSH make the improvements necessary at the hospital, so please support Team Olive (or even better, JOIN US below) and give generously.
