Tower Lifeboat Crew members Steve Doherty, Al Kassim, Hannah Liptrot and Stephen Wheatley are aiming to smash a world record this August to raise funds for the new Tower Lifeboat Station on the river Thames in London. 

They will be taking part in the London Landmark Half Marathon in full Thames Lifeboat crew personal protective equipment comprising  Helly Hansen jacket and salopettes, Gecko helmet, Crewsaver life jacket and Magnum tactical boots with a combined additional weight of 9Kg. Whilst this PPE is perfect for their role in search and rescue on the Thames it is far from ideal for taking part in a half marathon in the summer.

A half marathon is already a challenge but this crew are going the extra mile to support saving lives in the future in our capital city.

Every pound and penny raised on this fundraising page will go towards building the replacement Tower Lifeboat Station. 

The current station is based on a pier first placed on the river in the 1860s and became Tower Lifeboat Station in 2006. Sadly it is now time expired, cramped and no longer fit for purpose. It lacks proper facilities, and the structure is beyond economical repair, and there is no privacy for vulnerable casualties. 

The RNLI urgently need your help to fund this purpose-built lifeboat station at Tower to carry on our lifesaving mission. We don't receive government funding so are really counting on your support to help meet the £5M total cost of this project. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity.
