Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 8th July 2005, one of my best and most well-loved friends was cruelly taken from us. Craig Gowans was an immensely talented young footballer, growing artist and academic. He died tragically in a training ground incident aged 17, two weeks into his professional contract with Falkirk Football Club. Not a day goes by that I don't think about Craig and all the good times and laughter that we shared. He was, and still is, one of the greatest people that I had the privilege to call a friend and teammate.

I played football alongside Craig at school, so I can see no more fitting way to mark the 10 year anniversary of his passing by attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest 11-a-side football match (currently 72 hours). The game takes place between July 4th and July 8th 2015 at Ainslie Park Stadium, Edinburgh and we are hoping to raise £37,000 for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation on behalf of the Craig Gowans Memorial Fund.
