Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this webpage in honor of Ray.
Ray was 69 when he passed on. For several years he had been bravely fighting this rare and cruel affliction known as "PPA" - Primary Progressive Aphasia.
It's a vicious neurological condition that slowly robs the person of all ability to communicate. By speech, by eye, by ear, by hand...
Typical of Ray - he fought it with humor. "What a ridiculous name for a disease!" he would say. "Sounds like the name of a really bad prog-rock band from the 70s!"
And he battled and defied its debilitating horrors to the end with wry wit, courage and grace.
Because the specific condition of PPA was not identified until recent years there has not yet been sufficient research into detection, prevention and cure of this dreadful condition.
In the spirit of Ray's lifelong generous approach to helping people and good causes - we are encouraging friends of Ray to contribute to funding research into PPA. So that in the future others might be spared the cruel condition that tried to blight Ray's final years.
