Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Rhia, Meg and their Dad's JustGiving page.
Starting and finishing in Ashbourne Lesiure Centre car park, the race is an out-and-back route along the Tissington Trail. Ashbourne is known as the gateway to The Peak District.
The route isn't flat as your outward section is a very gradual incline, but for every uphill there is a downhill! The 2nd half of your race is all set on a gradual decline which should feel fantastic once the legs have warmed up & you can get those feet flying!
We welcome Canicross Runners across all distances - water stations will be provided to dogs regularly out on course & at Race Village. We recommend your dog wears a running harness & is used to running with you. Remember they need to train too! Don't expect your dog to run a distance just because you can!
The 3 of us (Rhia with Murphy, Megs with Luna and Logan and our Dad with Monty) will all be running to raise money for the Animal Cancer Trust in memory of our beloved Chewey who we lost to the disease back in October 2016. http://www.animalcancertrust.co.uk/
Despite advances in human cancer research, the research into the disease in animals is still underfunded. The work that ACT do to help animals and owners suffering, as well as providing funds for ethical research is key into the fight in helping keep our pets healthy and comfortable.
Unfortunately our pets cannot tell us when something is wrong and they therefore need our help and full support to do this on their behalf. Please donate to support our run in memory of Chewey and join the battle against cancer today.
Thank you so much everyone.
We love you Chewey xxx
