We help families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them

Story

Our 2 year old daughter Ripley was diagnosed with high risk Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in January 2017. Throughout her treatment we were supported by countless healthcare professionals and charities all doing their best to make things as easy as possible for us as a family. Unfortunately Ripley passed away as a result of her Leukaemia in October 2017.

We were lucky that Ripley remained her usual energetic and cheeky self until the very end. She had a positive impact on the lives of everyone she met and was a kind and empathetic little girl who didn’t like to see anyone else sad or in pain. We are fundraising for the many charities that supported us in this time so that they can continue their great work supporting other families, easing some of their sadness and pain, in memory of Ripley.

You can see all of the charities we are supporting and events that we are holding in Ripley’s memory on her Just Giving Page:

CLIC Sargent came to visit us very early after our initial diagnosis and the practical support and information they have provided has been invaluable in helping us make sure we have everything in place that is needed.

They have arranged grants to help us cover the cost of things related to her treatment; contacted other charities on our behalf, such as Rays of Sunshine, Supershoes, Josie's Dragonfly, Tom Grahame Trust and Rainbow Trust and helped answer any questions we have had. CLIC Sargent have supported us at each stage of this journey and continue to support us as a family now for as long as we need it.

If you would like to help us say thank you to this amazing charity and
help them to continue supporting us and other families please make a donation. Here is what your donation could provide:

* £15 could pay for one copy of CLIC Sargent’s DVD to help families
where a child or young person has died of cancer to understand and cope with their grief.

* £25 could help pay for a family to stay for one night in one of CLIC
Sargent’s Homes from Home, providing accommodation near to specialist children’s cancer treatment centres, which are often many miles from a family’s own home. Staying in a Home from Home ensures a family can be close to their child during treatment.

* £60  could pay for a CLIC Sargent Play Specialist for half a day,
so that they can help a child prepare for and cope with treatment, by using models, toys and photos to explain what will happen.

* £75 could help pay for three hours of a social worker’s time. They
will aim to meet children and young people with cancer, and their families, soon after diagnosis and help them to understand and cope with the emotional, practical and financial effects of cancer, through treatment and beyond.

* £170 could help fund a one off grant to help families who have
recently received a diagnosis of cancer for their child.
