We support families affected by cancer to improve their quality of life

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Eric Codling, a keen cyclist and fundraiser for Cavendish Cancer Care, was killed by drunk driver Emma Egan on Sunday 3 November 2013.

My beloved sister Miranda was just 21 months younger than I and my constant companion throughout our shared childhood. During our time at university, she at Edinburgh and I at St Andrews, we enjoyed the best of each other's city and seaside locations, as well as attending events together. In adulthood, we rejoiced in each other's children and family life.

With her death from cancer at the age of 46, I lost the person who perhaps more than anyone else, loved and challenged me in equal measure. Our mother lost a precious daughter, our younger sister an irreplaceable sibling, Miranda's husband an adored wife and their two sons a loving and devoted mother. As Mother said, "The world can ill-afford to lose people like Miranda."

Cancer is a monstrously cruel disease, not only because it takes our loved ones before their time, but because of the toll it takes of them before they finally succumb.

Please sponsor me for this event if you are able to and help those who care for people who have cancer and those who love them.
