Story
On Sunday 23 October I will join 5,000 other runners at Victoria Park in Leicester for 13.1 miles, the hardest challenge I have ever taken on, as it will be one year to the day since I lost my mother to cancer. She was diagnosed in early September and after a short illness passed away peacefully in her sleep. To this end I began 2016 thinking of the date 23 October, and decided there were two options; give in to the memory of that date and watch as thousands of others fall victim to this terrible illness and die in pain, or I could stand up and do something about it. It's time, to Do Something About It.
In addition to any greatly appreciated donations I would like anyone who knows me either at work or on social media to predict my finishing time (free to play) and whoever gets closest to my official chip time (not my gun time) will win a prize from Leicester's premier beer shop West 45, just in time for the Christmas party season, so you can also join in the fun and follow the progress I make from Victoria Park to the war memorial and back on what promises to be a momentous day in Leicester, home of the 2016 Premier League Champions.
It's time, once and for all, for us to unite and Do Something About It. 23 October, Project Leicester 2016, it will happen.
