In memory of John Tratt
We care for the Lake District to sustain it for generations to enjoy.

Story

John Tratt moved to Cumbria to work at UKAEA Windscale in 1990. For over 25 years he volunteered as a warden for the Lake District National Park, leading guided walks, participating in work parties and in later years helping in the office.

He had a life-long love of walking, and his time with the LDNP volunteers gave him the chance to meet, guide and work with many other like-minded people, happy times and wonderful memories.

John had a stroke on Friday 7 December and died on Monday 10 December in the Huggett Suite at Lancaster Royal Infirmary.

He wanted to donate his body for medical research and training, so in accordance with his wishes we have arranged for that at the National Repository Centre in Nottingham.

In lieu of a cremation or funeral we are sure that John would have loved any donations in memory to go to support the work of Lake District National Park ranger service. We would like to use donations to fund a stile, gate or post in a special place and to support projects helping people to enjoy the Lake District landscape that John loved so much.
