We support those affected by meningitis to stop the disease devastating lives

Story

When i was 6 I developed Meningococcal Septicemia and was rushed into hospital. They immediately pumped me through with anti biotics and my mum believes that this was the step that saved my life. I was in intensive care for 4 days and luckily pulled through with minimal side effects, an incredibly lucky escape.  Due to meningitis, I then developed Chronic kidney disease and M.E, which has effected me at various degrees over the years.  The meningitis trust have offered me many different things to help me cope with the changes meningitis has caused in my life, such as art therapy and one to one visits.

In 2012 I met Alex Williams, my best friend.  He had had meningitis when he was 8 years old, and was in a coma- he pulled through too but with many complex after effects.  Alex had to use a wheelchair all of the time, but didn't let this stop him continuing with his love of sport and taking part in it.  He lead a disabled dance group, was studying sport at college and was a keen wheelchair basketball player.

Alex inspired so many others, and won awards for it; ''Volunteer of the year'' ''Radio1 teen award'' and ''Sky childrens champion award''

He devoted his time to raising awareness of meningitis, saying that if one of his symptoms cards saved a life, that would be enough.

Alex sadly died on the 1st August following a stroke from complications with the after effects of meningitis.

Please help continue Alexs legacy and what he loved most by donating... Every single penny will go to a great cause.
