Fundraising for Genesis Research Trust
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been a midwife now for 30 years, and love my job with a passion. I have looked after many women, with many babies over the years, mostly a happy experience, but occasionally, when things go wrong, extremely sad.
I am lucky enough to have 3 healthy children, but struggled with fertility issues and miscarriages over the years. My best friend Gill Thomson (also a midwife)who was always there to help me though everything, lost her battle against Ovarian Cancer 4 years go at the age of 54.
When I heard about the Genesis reasearch trust foundation, which funds research into reducing stillbirths, miscarriages, birth defects and problems with fertility,whilst improving treatments for female cancers, I felt that this charity is "right up my street!"
I have signed up, and paid all my fees, and with 2 friends Stacey Lewis and Rebby Mardon, we are going to undertake a "Cycle Cuba" challenge, cycling just over 360km in 5 days.
I have never done anything like this before in my life, but I love cycling, so thought " why not?"
I am also doing the Paras10 run on 21/5/17, a 10 mile endurance run in Colchester with my husband Shaun
