Story
Blood Cancer is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in the UK with 14,000 people losing their lives every year.
My mum was diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) at the end of 2015 and it developed into AML (Acute Myeloid Leukaemia) in March 2016. Since then our lives have been turned upside down. She is currently receiving intense chemotherapy in hospital (3 rounds) and has to receive regular blood and platelet transfusions to keep her alive. We are hoping that when she gets through all three rounds we will find a bone marrow donor which could cure her.
Our challenge is to raise as much money and awareness for this awful disease and also try and persuade all those that don't already to give up their time and donate their blood every 3 months.
My mum means everything to me. She is my world. And bringing me up alone means we are as close as can be. I am praying she will get through all this treatment and she can continue to live a long and happy life.
If you can spare anything to this wonderful charity I would be so grateful. I am useless at running and actually hate it so when my friend Emma said what did I think of doing 4 half marathons in a year I almost fell off my chair!! Can I actually achieve this? Well we are going to give it our best shot! We are currently deciding which half marathon to do in March 2017 so watch this space and help me make all the pain worth while :) xxx
