To mark Barnardo's 150th anniversary and raise funds for some of the UK’s most vulnerable children, I'm cycling from Holyhead to Barkingside, following the tracks of Barnardo’s pioneering founder. In 1866, aged 21, Thomas Barnardo sailed from Dublin to Holyhead then travelled over land to London. On seeing the poverty and destitution in Victorian London, he decided to stay to help vulnerable children. Today Barnardo's supports over 250,000 children each year.
