Story
Me: I don't have time to train for a marathon this year.
Also me: I need something to train for. An ultra-marathon seems like a good idea....
In the autumn last year our world was rocked by a sudden diagnosis that TB (my wonderful stepdad, who has been a real father to me) had inoperable cancer. What we thought was a 'frozen shoulder' turned out to be a tumour. We are so thankful to St Peter's Hospice, who helped us to get the diagnosis when no-one else seemed to be listening.
So an ultra marathon seems to be the perfect tribute to an amazing man.... the person who taught me to:
- always explore, without fear of getting lost
- 'hold on' through life's ups and downs
- keep putting one foot in front of the other
and always with a smile and a wink!
While he is completing his own 'ultra' through treatment and pain he inspires me to keep going. He is pushing himself daily and never grumbling.
We would be so grateful for any donations to this wonderful charity:
St Peter's Hospice is Bristol's ONLY adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Our commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones.
All of our care is provided free of charge, but it costs us around £20,000 a day to provide that care. For most of this money we rely on Gifts in Wills, donations, fundraising and our shops.
