Story
On the 15th June 1988 my father Cpl Ian Metcalfe was murdered along with another 5 soldiers shortly after completing the Lisburn Fun Run, they were awarded medals but never able to bring them home. On the 19th June 2013, I will be participating in the Lisburn Fun Run, in my fathers memory and also to help raise vital funds the Forget Me Not Childrens Hospice.
Not only will I be running in my fathers memory, I will also be running in memory of a little boy called Joshua, a cheeky monkey with the biggest smile, whom fell asleep on the 10th April 2013, aged 9. Forget Me Not childrens Hospice is a wonderful place supporting families with children whom have life limiting conditions. I have known Michelle and Michael (Joshuas parents) for a number of time now and am so deeply inspired by the couples dedication to raising continuos funds for the hospice.
I just know that my dad would be so proud that even after his death, he has still been able to help raise much needed money for such a wonderful cause.
This will be the most emotionally challenging event that I have taken part in, and very much a do i or dont i event that I have thought about for months. But for my dad, and for Joshua, im so doing it.....
