Who are We?

We are School House, a boarding house within the Leys School Cambridge with almost 60 boys. A few years ago one of the boys in the house, Carl George, sadly passed away of Vascular EDS. He was amazing person that truly touched the hearts of those around him. He was liked by all, on account of his kindness and approachability. We as a house are going to do a 24 hour football tournament in order to raise money for Annabelle’s Challenge which use the money to support those affected, educate the general public and to aid Research in order to improve diagnosis and care.

 What is Vascular EDS?

Vascular EDS is a life threatening connective tissue disorder that affects all tissues, arteries and internal organs making them extremely fragile, it is estimated to affect 1 in 90,000 people. Patients are at risk of sudden arterial or organ rupture which is life threatening.

Annabelle's Challenge is the leading charity for vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in the UK. At the heart of the charity is Annabelle, a brave little girl from Bury who is the inspiration behind our challenge to raise awareness and support for patients and families affected by vascular EDS. Vascular EDS is a life threatening connective tissue disorder that affects all tissues, arteries and internal organs making them extremely fragile. Patients are at risk of sudden arterial or organ rupture. Vascular EDS (previously known as EDS Type 4.

What is a 24 hour football tournament?

On March 21st 2020 at 4pm we will begin our tournament! There will constantly be two teams playing each other in the Sports Hall at the Leys School over the 24 hour period. There will be 12 boys teams, a teachers team, an Old Leysian team and an All-Star team in a round robin style event. The matches will be 20 minutes long and there will be 36 matches in total. These matches will be roll on,roll off, in the aim that the ball never stops moving. This will be the equivalent of 86,400 seconds or 1,440 minutes of football.

So please support us by donating as it is a cause that is close to our hearts! Our schools' motto is:

"Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can."

Carl did all these and when you ask anyone about what Carl was like, everyone says Carl was 'kind'. So help us remember him and support those who have Vascular EDS.
