Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My Mum, I miss her, every single day. Everything about her.

Mum started feeling ill in October 2010, with stomach pains. So saw the Doctor.  The Doctor diagnosed her with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  The pain sometimes was ok, other days it was unbearable.  Mum took her pills, but gradually other symptoms started.  Mum started feeling sick,  lost her appetite,  just run down.  She was then told it could be gallstones.  We are now in February/March,  where they found Mum had a hiatus hernia.  By now Mum was losing weight,  however we thought it was because of this hernia.  One day Mum was so weak she couldn't manage to wash her hair.  Dad lost his rag with the Doctor and demanded that something else be done.  Mum had a CT scan where they found cancer on her pancreas,  which had spread to her liver.

It was terminal.

Dad tells me the first thing Mum said was "I have to see the grandchildren grow up".

That was April 7th.

Mum passed away 5 weeks later.

Pancreatic cancer is the hardest cancer to diagnose, which I dont understand. Of all the personal journeys I have read, every single person had the same symptoms, and yet 94% of patients diagnosed with PC dont survive a year of diagnosis. I am doing such a small gesture in the whole grand scheme of things. we shouldn't have lost our beautiful Mum, Wife, Nanny she looked after herself and everyone around her.  Other families shouldn't go through what we all have done. More needs to be done, thats why Im hoping to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

I know times are hard for alot of us at the moment, please, if you've got a spare £1 or even £5, hell, maybe even a spare couple of hundred..please give what you can :0)

If times are really hard, then maybe you would consider a trip to your local blood transfusion centre. Mum had a double blood transfusion, in the hope that by making her rubin levels higher she could start chemo. It sadly didnt work. Alot of cancer patients are given this double blood transfusion before the chance of chemo.

It is just a bike ride...54 miles from London, and I do, or hopefully will end up in Brighton. No doubt my rather large backside will be sore, my knees already hurt from the small amount of training I have already started with. I want to do this and want to raise as much as I possibly can, in memory of my beautiful Mum.

Thankyou in advance for taking the time to read 'My story' and for any donation you so kindly donate,

With ooodles of love  Sharon xxxxxx

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.
