Story
On 20th May, I will be running the Great Manchester 10K as part of The University of Manchester's Purple Wave.
I am fundraising for the Undergraduate Access Scholarships as I believe that in 2018, money should not be a barrier to education. I was the first person in my family to go to university and graduated from The University of Manchester with a BSc (Hons) in Biology in 2015. Whilst at university, I received an Undergraduate Access Scholarship from The Zochonis Charitable Trust. My scholarship made it much easier to focus on my degree as it meant that I did not have to work part-time to fund my living costs. Working part-time would have been difficult as I was already juggling my studies alongside being the main carer for my mum who has Parkinson's Disease. By fundraising for the Undergraduate Access Scholarships, I want to help other young people from a similar background to myself attend The University of Manchester and have the best possible experience instead of worrying about money.
