My name is Shirley Gale and I am doing a sponsored tandem parachute jump on the 14th June, to raise money for the Beating Bowel Cancer Charity. This charity is set up to raise awareness of bowel cancer and to encourage people who show signs of the disease to get help before it is too late.
My husband Bob was a lovely man, he died from bowel cancer on the 11th December 2013, the day after his 68th birthday. The last year of his life he bore with great courage but it was a difficult one for Bob and for all the family and friends who loved him. I am doing this sponsored event in the hope that other families may be spared losing a loved one to this disease which, in most cases, if caught early enough is treatable.
I would really appreciate any donations, large or small, and as I am funding the parachute jump myself all the donations will go to Beating Bowel Cancer.
As I jump out of the aircraft I will shout Geronimo in memory of a joke Bob loved to tell.
Many, many thanks
Shirley.
