Story
On 17th January 2004, my Dad took his life after a 10 year battle with his mental health. Words cannot describe how much I miss him. He truly was the most incredible Dad. Kind, caring, funny and always there for me. And at 6'5", he always gave the very best "bear hugs".
For 17 years now I have really struggled with his loss and the coping strategies I've used in that time have not always been the best choices.
There has been a well documented increase in the number of people dealing with mental health issues since Covid. Charities have simply been overwhelmed with the sudden increase of people reaching out to ask for help.
So, after reflecting on this and on my own battle to come to terms with Dad's suicide, I have decided to do something positive in his memory. By running the London Marathon I'd really like to raise money, for a worthy cause, in his honour. I'll use the training to try to focus on healing myself too. Just by knowing that the money I raise will help Mind to continue the incredible work they do will hopefully help me gain a little closure. Your donations will go on to help others like my Dad. Who knows, it could even help save another person's life.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you SO much for donating. Your support really does mean the absolute world to me and I am so incredibly grateful for every single penny given in memory of my very much loved and so desperately missed, wonderful Dad.
Thank you xxxx
