Story
In April 2024 I'm taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon 2024 for Bowel Cancer UK. They are the UK's leading bowel cancer charity and the research and care they provided was crucial for my Dad during his diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
In November 2020 Dad was told he would require surgery following a bowel cancer diagnosis, resulting in surgery to have a part of the bowel removed and a temporary stoma as a result. This was life changing however vital for his treatment. He received excellent care and support, most notably from the stoma nurses who offered advice and assistance throughout the whole process. Bowel Cancer UK was able to offer support, information and assistance throughout the whole process that was invaluable.
Having a team of knowledgeable professionals and charities like Bowel Cancer UK made the process of adapting to life with a stoma as well as the surgery the following year to have this reversed easier to understand and manage.
Bowel Cancer UK are determined to save lives and improving the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer and I am grateful for any donations to help this cause which is so important to me.
Having run a half marathon with legs like jelly and questioning how anyone could ever go double the distance it's going to be a huge challenge but I'll give it my best!!
Thank you so much for your support - It means a lot x
