Story
Thanks for taking a look at my page. On 2 July I'm taking on City to Summit, running and riding across Scotland in a day, and scaling Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain, in the process.
The day starts at 4am at Edinburgh Castle with a half marathon, leaving the city and crossing the Forth road bridge. The cycling leg begins on the other side, heading through some seriously hilly country and finishing at Kinlochleven on the West Highland Way. The bike gets left behind for the third leg of the challenge - an off-road marathon, through the hills to Ben Nevis, making the 1,300m+ climb, then collapsing across the finish line in Fort William. To summarise: that's one and a half marathons, plus 112 miles on the bike. It's going to be a long day.
This by far the toughest event I've ever taken on, and just to complete it will be a major achievement. The reason I'm putting myself through all this is to raise as much money as possible for the Highland Hospice. In 2009 my big brother Ben was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. He fought the disease for more than a year, undergoing various treatments, but sadly passed away at the age of just 25.
He spent his final weeks in the care of the Highland Hospice in Inverness, where he could receive the type of care he needed, but also where family could be together. The staff were incredible, doing everything they could to make an impossible situation that bit more bearable for everyone. The service is heavily reliant on charitable giving, and I want to do what I can to help out.
Please give whatever you can, safe in the knowledge that it will be very, very hard-earned.
