Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

If you are generous enough to want to donate, please be aware that by using this link you will only be donating to Clic Sargent.  Please see my story and information on the other charities before donating. Thankyou.

Late last year we all lost a beautiful friend and my eldest 22 year old son, Sam, after he put up a hell of a fight to cancer. Earlier last year we also lost my dad to this abhorrent disease.

Sam had many friends and a full life ahead of him. He always had time for others with a smile on his face and a wish to make people happy. It is in his memory that I want to raise the plight of many young adults who suffer from cancer and for those families who have similarly lost a son or daughter at a tragic age.

My challenge, starting on Tuesday 17th March 2015 is to fundraise for a number of smaller charities who carry out fantastic work in caring for these children.  It is to this end that my nominated charities are Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, Clic Sargent and Paul's Place & Paul's Fund, which is a charity providing a break for young adults experiencing bereavement, a life threatening illness or being a carer.  The latter charity is not available via Just Giving but is a registered charity in it's own right. (268369).  http://www.pauls-fund.co.uk. My family have been fortunate in having the opportunity of using Paul's Place specifically. Please take the time to research these to truly understand their support and work before deciding whome to donate.

The South West Coast Path is the longest of Britain's trails measuring 1014km (630m) from Minehead to South Haven Point near Poole in Dorset and is rated as one of the top ten long distance walks in the world. Forty odd days later having carried my own pack and tent, stayed in Youth Hostels and the odd Bed & Breakfast (pub!!) I will have climbed more than 4 x the height of Everest in ascents alone!!. Hopefully the sun will be out but whatever the weather it's shorts weather.

We have probably all had family members suffer with cancer but to see children have their futures torn agonisingly away from them, well it has broke my heart.

Please, if you can, donate what you feel is right for you. No minimum as it is truly your thoughts that count.
