I am taking part in the Lake District Mighty Hike again this year on Saturday 13th July 2019, I will be hiking a marathon distance (all 26 miles of it!) up and down the hills around Lake Ullswater. The Hike starts at Dalemain House and we will be walking anti clockwise around the Lake and finishing at Lowther Castle. There will be quite a few significant inclines to walk up, but with every climb, there will be a descent. The scenery will be amazing, if the weather is kind to us.

This year I am, again, walking in memory of Maureen Newsham. She was a truly wonderful lady who raised many thousands of pounds for Cancer Research before she passed away. Maureen gave so much of her time to help so many people. She is greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Maureen taught me so many things, not least that there are never any obstacles we cannot overcome just challenges along the path of life. She loved our children, and treated them as her own grandchildren. I miss her, and I know that she will be watching over me as I train and Hike on the big day, with that twinkle in her eye. Rest in peace Maureen.

I plan to have my green Macmillan event T-shirt personalised with the words "Maureen, loved and never forgotten RIP"

I know so many of people who have battled the fight against cancer, some have been successful, but too many have died too early with so much yet to give. Macmillan have been there for them along their journey.

I want to raise as much money as possible to support this amazing charity, to enable them to continue in the work that they do. My dream would be to raise enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for a week.
