Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU to all of you for the great support and sponsorship you’ve given me!

I am so grateful to you and your family for helping me exceed my target and help support my charity which is doing amazing work to support the research into people with degenerative dementia, specifically PCA - Visual Dementia. The research is to support in the early diagnosis of the disease as well as to develop software to help sufferers to read for longer.

Many of us are touched by degenerative dementias in people we love and care for. The National Brain Appeal has greatly benefitted from the services of a research Nurse, who has organised and expanded its 4 Dementia Support groups, as well as running a crisis telephone line. The post's 2 year funding ends this year so the money raised is in particular going to support the continued services provided by a Specialist Nurse for the Alzheimer Support Organisations at the National Neurological Hospital.

So I am forever grateful for all your support!

The Race

The race was held on Sunday 14 October, a beautiful autumn morning and was a Human Race event with over 1500 people participating so you can imagine the atmosphere at the start line!

8am the race started and it was crisp and very chilly that it took me about 15mins into the run to actually warm up....brrrrrrrr

I started to enjoy the run past 3 miles because the route scenery was lovely! The first part of the run went over Kingston Bridge, then we took a path along the river all the way past Hampton Court palace so I just went into my zone, waved to a few spectators and literally I had a big smile on my face thinking of Gerald (RIP) watching over me, including the love and support from the Heath family, my family, my partner Craig and his family, and also you my dear friends all routing for me...it was an incredible feeling! I still get a bit emotional thinking about it, in a good way.

However, I hit the wall coming into the last 2miles as I am not a  great fan of long distances, also I had started to get leg cramps which were quite painful that I even stopped a few times to stretch it out but in vain. Luckily I had put in all the training necessary to do this, with a fiercely determined mindset to complete the race come what may and therefore I just put my head down and just run until I saw the finishing line and my boyfriend’s smile…That is when I actually exclaimed I DID IT Yippieeee

What a great feeling that engulfed me when I actually crossed that line, and on top of that, a couple more people had sponsored me on the day! It felt amazing so all that pain and struggle keeping up with the training was worthwhile to support my charity and the good work they are doing!

I have now developed a running bug (maybe not that distance but 10k is enough) that I have already planned a couple of races early next year!

Thanks again for all your support! I am truly humbled by your kindness!

You can still sponsor me if you haven’t got to it as yet because this is for a wonderful cause!
