Philippa and I are trekking to Everest base camp to fulfill one of Philippa's ambitions and to challenge me!! 

Suffering with Ankylosing spondylitis it won't always be easy but I am very determined and have been training hard. This is apart from the risks of 8 flights in total, altitude sickness, earthquakes, food poisoning... The list could go on!  To add to our challenge, Philippa will also be trekking only 6 weeks after a broken rib 😁

We are hoping to raise money for Kinder mountain rescue team in gratitude for what they did for my Dad. 

Back in 1988 my dad sadly died on top of Kinder of a heart attack  and the rescue team had the onerous task of carrying him down. They then took the time some weeks later to walk myself, my brother and my Mum up the mountain to show us where he died. 

Aside from this, as regular walkers on Kinder ourselves,  it is brilliant to know help is there if needed..

Last summer Philippa had to single handedly get my 13 year old daughter off a mountain in the French alps when she sustained a three way ankle fracture and they had no phone signal to alert anyone so we are acutely aware of how vital help can be! 

It's a fantastic job the team do and all on a volunteer basis. Please donate if you can to support them. We would be lost without them and people often are!!
