We provide free mentoring for young people to increase self-esteem and confidence

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The support Young Minds Matter provides in my local community is truly invaluable.  Having witnessed first-hand the profound impact of mentoring on young people's confidence and self-esteem, I am deeply aware of its significance.  The mentors at Young Minds Matter play a vital role in offering essential early support to our young people, and I am honoured to have been chosen to represent them in the LLHM.

YMM was initially formed as a charity concert in 2017 which raised money for pre-existing mental health charities. It was founded by my friend and ex-colleague,  Sue Roberts who lives in Stratford-upon-Avon, and the charity operates in schools in Warwickshire and Coventry.

YMM became a charity in its own right in 2019, recognising the desperate need for early support for young people in schools.  Money raised goes towards training people to become mentors. Mentors work with young people in local state primary and secondary schools for free. They also do a number of events to get young people involved in the charity, such as the LLHM and Channel Swim, the latter of which saw four teenagers swim the channel and raise £15,000!
